Sarah MacGregor

I am a multidisciplinary artist who has been working in the South West for the past 5 years. Since lockdown I have been working on my animation and editing skills, and hope to find work in this area!

My final MA project is about transient housing. It took inspiration from Charlotte Perkins Gilman's 'The Yellow Wallpaper' and covered print design, textiles, ceramics, zine-making, and animation. I like to experiment with forms and explore the limits of what they should be. I am interested in storytelling, material culture, physical interactions, and the boundaries between human/object and animate/inanimate.

Safeguards

Illustrations documenting my almost superstitious relationship with objects I move house with, accompanied by ceramic bead versions of these objects.

Nightgown

2-colour floral screenprint on cotton, sewn into a nightgown. If you look closely at the pattern you may see skulls. Inspired by 'The Yellow Wallpaper'.

Animated Wallpaper

Wallpaper with 4 screen printed motifs. On display they are unmoving, hung side by side, but put into a video they become animate. As the plants depicted move through their lifespans, so too does the face within, transforming into a skull.
