Our Media and Cultural Production / Media Culture and Communication courses equip students with a deep understanding of media culture so they can communicate effectively. Our students develop strong research and production skills to carve out a niche as digital creative media professionals in a fast-paced, ever-evolving sector.
Students use photography, video, sound and web design to devise experimental and socially-engaged projects. Production skills and thinking are underpinned by an understanding of the impact of media in its cultural and historical context and the way viewers respond to media forms and practices. Embedding cultural research and digital media production skills by engaging the dynamics of mediated societies and the global creative economy, we prepare students for careers in contemporary digital mediamaking and media-utilising enterprises to communicate to diverse audiences.
Our courses are allied with the Digital Cultures Research Centre (DCRC), based at the Pervasive Media Studio, a world-leading innovation lab based at Bristol’s Watershed.
