Drama & Acting

In a year when all public theatres in the country have been closed, UWE’s Drama and Acting students have managed to create arresting and moving performances both online and in person. They engaged with the challenges of experimental and digital theatre practices on Avant-Garde Theatre, as well as the self-taping of performances on Acting for Screen. And the Final Year Project module saw seventeen original shows take place in the Bower Ashton Theatre over three days in May.

Mirroring the industry, actors with a negative lateral flow test performed live and without masks for the first time in

fifteen months. It was a triumph. This has been a year like no other for our industry as well as our students, but the creative innovation and determination of UWE Drama graduates will enable them to be pioneers of exciting and original theatre far into the future.
