I am a research led sustainable textiles and print designer based in Bristol. My final project, entitled ‘Mindfully Foraged’, explored the concept of made-to-fade design through using natural dyes and plant-based printing pigments to colour cellulose fibres. Dyes were extracted from medicinal plants, food waste, and plants foraged from roadsides, woodlands and gardens. The medicinal plants leave their healing properties on the fibre after dyeing so the textiles have the power to heal, restore, and aid wellbeing. During this project, I started a Research Associate position at UWE researching natural dyes and digital processing for biomaterial design. My ambition
is to continue a career in research and work towards writing a proposal for a PhD. I am also open to research and design opportunities in industry for fashion, interiors and artistic applications.
