About

Welcome

College of Arts, Technology and Environment: A better world is ours for the making.

We live, learn, work and play in a complex, fast changing world. And here at UWE Bristol, we know that only by coming together, through collaboration and cooperation, can we solve the global challenges of today and tomorrow.

In the College of Arts, Technology and Environment (CATE), we are changing the world for the better. We are a silo-smashing, boundary-breaking powerhouse of positive action. Through internationally acclaimed research, high-quality teaching and practice-oriented learning, we’re inspiring excellence across and between technology, environment, design and creative technologies.

CATE is a culturally diverse and intelligent community. Where learners, leaders and practitioners come together to spark better conversations and shape better solutions. A welcoming place full of possibilities; a safe space to push forward brave ideas. A place where the interplay between education and research delivers positive change.

We’re a launchpad for the next generation of diverse, ethically driven leaders. An ambitious digital incubator and accelerator, focused on growing knowledge, know-how and new tech across our UWE Bristol community and beyond. This is how we are changing the world for the better.

There’s lots to see so take your time, have a good look around and explore the interdisciplinary portfolios of our Class of 2023 and an archive of 2020-22 alumni. Collaboration & Partnerships

We’re proud of our strong relationships with organisations in the arts and cultural sectors across Bristol, as well as a wide range of communities and industry partners across the region and around the world.

We’re committed to working collaboratively with communities and organisations such as Arnolfini, BBC, Bristol Culture, Bristol Old Vic, Rising Arts Agency, Spike Island, Tobacco Factory, and Watershed. Connecting with these local, regional and international organisations helps us support our graduates to develop and build their network of professional connections – all while getting involved in and growing creative communities.
