Beth Gare

Over the course of University I have developed a cohesive theme that I feel expresses who I am and what I want to voice through my artwork. Within my practice I explore ideas around belonging to a place through connection to our ancestors. I create large family trees, influenced predominantly by the renaissance period and maps. Symbolism is an important part of my practice. Adding flags, coats of arms and personal symbols to my family trees is what makes them unique. I am eager to help people to feel safe in the world through knowing where they come from,

and I believe my art is an effective way of communicating this passion.
