May Bell

May predominantly works with fabric, applying collage techniques to experiment with colour, texture and composition. She uses her no-nonsense, cheeky poetry to inspire large scale textile illustrations. Her choice of materials allows her to work intuitively; she enjoys the interplay between contrasting materials and styles. The works comment on sex, identity and womanhood.
May explores these areas and techniques as a therapy, using them as a medium to help her communicate and process her experience of modern-day existence. May is presently making sculptural textile’s to investigate the possibilities of creating more immersive experiences.
