Rachel Chappell

Across multiple disciplines, my work explores contemporary themes within the current cultural zeitgeist. Employing tactics of symbolism and metaphor, I take reference from multiple historic and contemporary sources such as fantasy and sci-fi to investigate feminist issues and post-digital narratives surrounding body politics, intersectional feminism, female sexuality and the self.
Mostly working with painting, I find myself being drawn to ways of extending these paintings beyond the canvas, using methods of sculpture, writing and sound to create multi-dimensional worlds within my practice. I enjoy and thrive from working with other creatives, whether that be in curating exhibitions and events

or collaborating on works to bring together multiple experiences and viewpoints into one place.
