Erin Hilsdon

Hi, I’m Erin!

I am a highly motivated stop motion fabricator specialising in quirky puppets of all shapes, sizes and species. Using traditional and modern processes, I bring characters to life in a variety of styles and designs.

Over the past year I have worked on a number of live briefs including a music video for 'Hot Chip,' a BFI funded film called ‘Beltane,’ and a commission for Extinction Rebellion.

Ada

While all three are the same character, Ada goes on a transformation throughout the film 'Unnecessary'. The best way to achieve this was to create multiple puppets with interchangeable parts, using wire, bespoke 3D printed mechanisms and plasticine faces.

Tea Party

This is a solo project I produced over 14 weeks involving two puppets, props and a set. The furniture is a mix of lasercut, 3D prints and hand crafted elements, along with wire, silicone and felt puppets.

4 Ways To Stay Safe at a Protest

This is a short film commission for Extinction Rebellion in 2023 explaining how to prepare for a protest. I produced and made puppets for this film, which was made in 7 weeks as part of a 20+ person team.

Bolster the Giant

This is a puppet inspired by a Cornish folk tale about a terrible giant who tries to marry a human against her will. The final puppet is silicone, wire, foam, fabric and hair.

Happy Pig Brand

This puppet was made for an upcoming 3rd year student film by Léo Bournas Milazzo called 'Happy Pig Brand.' In this grizzly film, young piglets are shown around a pork factory by this puppet, who wears a silicone pig mask.

We'll Be Back After the Break

We'll Be Back After the Break is a student film currently in production by Beth Zajack. I completed a maquette for the alien character and also a final sculpt which will be cast in silicone for the final puppet.
