Tasnia Ahmed

I am an undergraduate who has just completed the Bsc Architecture course. I have really enjoyed the course and have learnt many skills such as hand-drawing and graphical presentation using software that I can take with me into my future prospects. Architecture and further research into landscaping and the environment emerged from various interests in my personal life such as gardening and cooking. I began to think about my choices and how they impact the planet.

Opportunities such as the RIBA mentorship and becoming a student representative allowed me to network with more people and build my confidence. Being an easily motivated person has allowed me to support my friends and peers during the stressful times of the year. These skills will allow me to develop trust between colleagues as well as clients in the next stage of my career.

A Welcome and The Users Journey

A view of the seed library at the reception and a series of sketches showing a users journey and process of purchasing seeds.

North-South Sections

Both sections show how users are encouraged to use the outdoors as a transition space in order to strengthen their relationship with nature. The sections show how the buildings sit within the site and work with the change in levels.

East and South Elevation of The Library of the Ground

Regeneration of land and soils was the focus for this project. It focuses on rewilding and allowing nature to be its own designer. Rammed earth is the main material using local soils to form the primary structure.

The Progression of Landscaping and Conceptual Links

The images show the development of rewilding and how it displays the aims from the exhibition earlier in the creative conceptualisation phase. It also has visual connection to the manifesto in terms of user experience.

An Experience Through the Meadows

The external area of the site acts as the exhibition space displaying the different species the are growing. It would also show the biodiversity and animals that have created habitats within the spaces.

Seeds for Purchase and The Meadow Landscaping

The book shows the seeds available for purchase at the Library of the Ground. The series of sketches also show the benefits of meadow landscaping and how it can help with the preservation of grassland as well as rewilding.
