I was working as a stylist and completed the casting for this project. The styling was inspired by Poland under Soviet ruling when women had to improvise and reuse old materials to make new beautiful clothes.

I’m a UWE fashion communication graduate and a creative who loves to explore current affairs and pop culture. I use image-making, video-making and styling to tell stories and express myself visually in fashion and music. My work is inspired by the themes of heritage, nostalgia and youth culture, which reflect my own personal journey as a Polish-British individual. I love to capture the beauty of everyday life and the diverse people who shape it, whether they are from different subcultures or immigrants. I am curious about the stories and motivations of these people, and how they navigate their identities and cultures in Britain, a country that owes so much to their hard work and creativity.

The project explores historical and modern female identities, through the exploration of folklore tales, which oftentimes hold views of prejudice against women. I wanted to allow women to feel empowered by the stories of these demonised and overlooked women.

Blossoming in Thorns
This project was self-initiated and focused on the stories of the models as young adults- how they navigate their lives in young adulthood and how their teenage years shaped them into the women they are today.
