Isabelle Bedevian

Isabelle is an artist with a painting-based practice, deeply inspired by the Renaissance and the captivating works of the old masters. Isabelle's work acts as a reflective lens. Her paintings are re-interpretations of Renaissance masterpieces, capturing the essence of the hierarchical compositions from both the high and low Renaissance periods.

Through image manipulation and narrative alteration, she breathes new life into these classical artworks, reimagining them on the canvas. This process allows her to draw upon the themes of the past while infusing them with the concerns and complexities of our modern society. It is at the intersection of the past and present where her art flourishes.

‘I am interested in the dichotomy between the heavenly and the earthly, the divine and the flawed. An invitation to contemplate the heavenly and earthly realms, the ascent, and the fall’.
