where did life and i begin [2022]
An annual, ever-growing compilation of life's personal, uneventful and tender moments; a surreal audio trip, thumbing back through the year of 2022. Audio, 2022, 00:06:30
Alice Farrington is a multidisciplinary artist who uses analogue photography, audio, video and objects saturated in meaning to observe and articulate intimacy.
Her ongoing questions and lines of enquiry guide her process. Can we look at our present moment as a living archive? How do private relational moments hold themselves when shown publicly? How is our experience stored in object bodies?
Personally connected with the elements she studies, Farrington diaristically documents the mundane and magical.
The photographic medium naturally hones her as the spectator of, often, those she is close to. She is gravitated to the minute details; the tender passing touches, the pause for breath, the smooth within the rough. Through her depictions, Farrington hopes to incite a consideration of the essences of what it is to be human and in connection.
