Simone Marconi is an Italian artist currently living and working in Bristol (UK). Combining industrial and instinctive approaches, he produces work that walks on the worn tightrope between real and surreal. Marconi aims to ferry the audience into a fluid, parallel dimension, introducing them to introspection.
By challenging the notion of reality as static, his production operates as a parody of reality, a satirical caricature of the Anthropocene.
Too-Loose (Garza che Perde) explores the human tendency to repeat past errors and the need to erase unpleasant memories. As falling water erodes rocks, creating puddles, getting diluted and recycled, painful memories and mistakes dig deep wounds within us.
These wounds sometimes reopen unexpectedly, emerging from the abyss of our subconscious. They manifest, making us start the ascent all over again. Water evaporates and becomes liquid again, disappears and reappears in different forms.
Initiating an intimate and unsettling dialogue with the audience, the installation, a calm and innocuous object, suddenly becomes unpredictable and alive.
