The Whitewashed house
Illustration of an extract from Neil Gaimans short story The Truth Is A Cave In The Black Mountains
My name is Betty Freeman, I’m an illustrator and traditional printmaker under the artist name Maisonbetty. My work combines digital art with a variety of different printing methods. From Lino and woodblock carving to copper plate dry point and acid etching. The work I make is usually inspired by the natural world with a surreal and spooky take on it. I like to explore the liminal space in a scenic location, and learn about the history behind it. I enjoy learning about history through illustration and want to work with it more in publishing and the editorial field.
