I'm Jayson Tiah, a BA (Hons) Architecture and Planning graduate with dual accreditation in both disciplines. Growing up in a multigenerational, multilingual community in Brunei has shaped my interdisciplinary and regenerative approach to design. My work is driven by a passion for sustainable, inclusive architecture that connects people, place, and ecology. I’ve consistently applied the spatial and atmospheric principles of Feng Shui across my academic projects, integrating cultural values into contemporary design. As a Part 1 graduate, my goal is to work towards creating socially and environmentally responsive places, with a particular interest in quality homes for people and bringing communities closer to nature.
Roots and Rise adopts a regenerative approach, bringing people closer to nature and integrating the principles of the Circular Food Economy, encouraging people to be more conscious of our food and learn to maximize the value of our resources.
Offering vibrant and attractive spaces within and surrounding the building, bringing intergenerational and diverse cultures closer together through an everyday necessity and joy - food.
Rooted in food production and growth, the development engages people to learn about the process of growing food, raising fish and using the wide variety of ingredients they grew and harvested in prepping their meals.
The Cookery School brings the communities together to learn, prepare, cook a variety of meals while exploring different cultures around the world. The development encourages turning food waste into valuable resources, and completing the Circular Food Economy.
Rotating vertical aquaponics farming modules allow greater accessibility to more members of the community while enhancing food production.
Studios for the Roots and Rise Kitchen - a food charity in the cookery school offering free meals to those in need while giving students a chance to apply and showcase their skills in a meaningful, community-focused way.
