Millie Johnson

I am a Researcher, filmmaker and Locations Marshall.

During my time at university, developing a research-led moving image practice has taken me across the country, uncovering stories shaped by place, memory, and postcolonial history. I’ve enjoyed working on community-driven projects, exploring regional identities through film, and writing critically about visual culture and representation.

Looking ahead, I’m building toward a career in research-based filmmaking and curatorial practice, while gaining hands-on experience within the screen industries. Recent work on HETV sets like Larkin and Has Fallen has provided valuable production insight to support my long-term goal. I’m currently building a hybrid career that brings together production experience with a critically engaged, visually grounded creative practice.
