Esme Blackmore

In a world of saturation, my practice attempts to offer a moment of serenity. Focusing on the most basic of principles, light. Immortalising fleeting moments of light in paint, these fingerprints of object, time, and place offer a limited glimpse at the environment in which they reside. Balancing the line between realism and abstraction, my paintings invite viewers to explore the subtleties of light and its transformative effects. Sitting somewhere between the tangible and the intangible, shadows offer a limited yet poignant glimpse into their environment. Through this exploration, my work seeks to evoke a quiet introspection, allowing light and shadow to serve as both subject and storyteller.
