Phil Williamson

I am an aspiring Illustrator who's heavily influenced by skateboarding and the surrounding culture. Other areas that inspire me include comics, ephemera and vintage advertisements/packaging. My practice typically starts with drawn work but I enjoy experimenting with different processes and materials, so it usually evolves to combine elements wherever possible. I’m also passionate about bookbinding, I make all of my own sketchbooks and try to do as much of this as possible using found and reclaimed materials. Including things that inspire me like packaging or other ephemera, creating a dialogue between the materials and contents as well as being more economical and sustainable. This relationship between materials and content interests me and I hope I can continue to explore this with my work.
