I am Alex Cheng, an interior designer focused on creating spaces that foster connection, reflection, and curiosity. My work combines cultural storytelling, adaptive reuse, and sensory experience to design emotionally engaging and socially meaningful environments. One of my key projects transformed a historic fire station into a community library featuring a book exchange, restoration lab, and café reading area. I have also explored immersive digital installations that reflect personal memories and natural landscapes. My approach values material experimentation, working with cork, seaweed-based paper, and 3D printing to develop sustainable and expressive designs. Lighting is a recurring theme in my work, used not only for atmosphere but as a medium of narrative and form. Growing up between Hong Kong and the UK has shaped my perspective, helping me understand how design can bridge cultures and ideas. I aim to continue designing spaces that inspire meaningful encounters and new possibilities.
