Zak Aston

Hey there! I’m Zak, a final-year Architecture & Environmental Engineering student. My strengths lie in conceptualising low-carbon design, exploring environmental performance, sustainability, and how engineering can be better integrated into architecture. Over the last year, I’ve had the chance to sink my teeth into passive design strategies, including natural ventilation and solar optimisation for both power generation and overheating prevention.
As a mature student, I come from a background that includes practical installation work and hands-on design solutions. I approach projects with technical ambition, while recognising that even the best ideas are useless if they are not designed with users in mind. Good architecture should be environmentally responsible, spatially engaging, and simple to use and understand.
Following my studies at UWE, my ambition is to contribute to practices that respond seriously to climate challenges while creating and repairing spaces that work in reality, not just on paper. Fingers Crossed!
