Evie Summerell
My name is Evie, I'm a third year architecture student. My projects focus on using sustainable materiality and integrating architecture with the natural environment, providing space for both humans and nature.
I have experience with Adobe, Autodesk, and Rhino software. Achievements and experiences: In second year during the biggest project of the year, a community centre ran as a competition, I was chosen by the client as a winning and stand out project. My work on social housing in another project was chosen to be sent and shared to housing festival who acted as the client on the project. I have participated in and received a certificate in a low carbon awareness course from UWE. I was chosen for a paid summer internship with the University from the whole of the architecture and environment school.

Addressing Wetland Decline
The project highlights the ecological tragedy of urbanism, specifically in terms of loss of wetland habitats across England.
The image communicates the driving force behind the project, showing the devastating reduction in wetlands by 90% in the last 100 years.
Intertwining ecological infrastructure and flood defence.
Embedding the project within the city utilises the wetland as ecological infrastructure. The site is ideally positioned for the wetland to serve as a flood defence.
Mostly the site maintains a basic water level, flooding seasonally/ when needed, protecting Bristol.
Project Focuses
At the heart of the project is five aims. Educate and connect visitors with wetland habitats fostering stewardship, Conserve and rewild these vital habitats for dependant wildlife and return to materials of the earth for healthy architecture.

Within the project it was important to reflect the efforts for environmental health within the architecture, natural materially as well as reusability was important. Modular rammed earth returns to earth, while carbon sequestering glulam structure is catalogued for future reuse.
