Todd Griffin

In the last three years, I've gained experience in various areas of film. Aspiring to be a writer and director, it's vital for a director to understand all aspects of a production.

During my time at UWE, I have learned to create effective, well-prepared pitches and present them to over eighty people. but also many writing techniques and the chore of telling a powerful story, and how to direct actors effectively.

But over my time here, I have also specialised in other fields. Sound is especially one of these fields, where, in many of the films I'm on, I was able to create a truly immersive sonic reality for the characters' emotions, combining my technical knowledge of recording and design with my understanding of narrative.

I am also using my skills to pursue work in concept/storyboard art, which I hope will expand my skill set and further my opportunities.

Therakorta

A proof-of-concept sci-fi climate story, directed and written by me. I made it to practice my skills, learn from its mistakes, develop it further, and pitch to the BFI short film fund.

What I Meant To Say

A drama about a deaf teen reconnecting with his birth mother. A wholesome film which shows the bridge between the deaf and hearing societies. I sound-recorded and designed this, creating a sonic world which allows an audience to understand deafness.

In Search of the Delicious Planet - Storyboard

A Jaffa Cake spec commercial about finding a delicious flavour in the universe: I created the storyboard for this production, helping the director develop a clear vision to communicate with his crew.
