Karen Chard Artist
MA Fine Art 2026
Hello, I am a multidisciplinary artist, inspired by nature and its cycles.
My MA work has been informed by monthly observations of the historically significant Phoenix hedge in Henleaze, which triggered nostalgic memories. It has underpinning themes of Repair, Interconnectedness, Connection to Place and Ecology.
Driven by processes, I have been learning to work with glass and oil paints, along with textiles and other materials already familiar, as well as learning and practicing techniques and skills that have been new to me, such as sound and
automata.
My overall practice has a strong community focus, with ongoing development and facilitation of workshops. All of this work is about holding safer spaces to process grief through creativity, some of this work is specifically working with survivors of abuse (CSA and DA).
Future aims - To continue to produce art works and take part in exhibitions and potentially study for a PHD.
