Alice is a Portuguese/English artist based in Bristol.
Music, performance and figure drawing are core to her practice. With minimal, fluid strokes she captures a performance as it unfolds - working fast to stay present in the moment, immersed in sound and atmosphere.
Her process is founded on a commitment to life drawing and observation, providing confidence to set up an easel in public and draw in near darkness, under stage spotlights or in the bustle of audiences.
Printmaking has unearthed new ways of bringing the viewer into these captured moments by tiling drawings together to create artwork that reflects the feeling of being in those live spaces, where chance and unpredictability contribute to unearthing moments of spontaneity from the drawing’s origin.
Her work lives in collaboration with performers and audiences as a vibrant archive that documents and celebrates others in their flow, in creative kinship and community.
