Leah Cromie
Photography 2026
Leah Cromie is a UK photographer working between Bristol and Northern Ireland, whose practice explores questions of nationality, identity, and belonging shaped by her experience of identifying as Irish while growing up in Northern Ireland. Working primarily with analogue photography, she creates documentary and portrait-based work examining themes of community, collaboration, collective pride, and inherited cultural memory. Informed by both the political and social history of Northern Ireland and personal experiences rooted in family and place, her work reflects on the relationship between personal identity and national narratives. Through an intimate and observational approach, she documents everyday moments, rituals, and connections across generations. Leah embraces slowness, texture, and physicality within her analogue process, creating images that carry a sense of intimacy and permanence. Through portraiture and documentary storytelling, she seeks to create collaborative work grounded in trust, shared experiences, and the celebration of collective resilience.
