Pippa Grace

I have been working as a socially engaged artist, writer and sculptor for the past 23 years. My arts practice is centred on the belief that each of us is innately creative and that accessing our creativity is vital for our health and wellbeing. I believe that everyone has a story to tell and that the telling of these stories has an intrinsic value, both to the teller and their community. I am fascinated by the ways in which our personal stories are frequently informed by myth, folklore and fairytale.
During my MA, I have been exploring experiences of fragmentation and containment through a feminist perspective; developing and expanding my sculpture skills in the process. My final sculptural installation 'The Handless Maiden' considered this fairytale as a container for fragmented parts of a woman's life.
