Katya is a Bristol-based storyteller and aspiring wildlife filmmaker. She has always been especially drawn to marine subjects.
Be it trekking through the Outer Hebrides or diving off Colombia, digging nests at turtle hatcheries or using film to investigate the ethics of wildlife tourism, she is most committed to projects that aim to deepen human understandings of the creatures and environments we live alongside.
Studying English at undergrad was where she realised the power of stories to change perspective. There, she explored narrative across disciplines, cultures and, where possible, species.
In the future, Katya hopes to create films that invite audiences to imagine other ways of being, to work with landscapes, people and wildlife to tell stories that speak for themselves.

This was a 4 minute film piece, made for the first module of our MA; it really gave me a new appreciation for the slimy fellows.
