Naia Andrade Hoeneisen

Naia is a biologist, photographer, and conservationist from Ecuador. She is passionate about science and telling stories of the natural world through interdisciplinary approaches. She has worked in research, filmmaking, photography and conservation projects throughout her country, from the Galápagos Islands, passing through the Andes glaciers, and into the Amazon jungle. Naia has directed and co-directed three documentaries filmed in Ecuador, featuring local stories where humans and nature intertwine. She is the vice-president and co-founder of the non-profit organization Amazon Research & Conservation Collaborative (ARCC).

She now aspires to keep using the camera to tell stories that improve humans' relationship with nature, work to protect biodiversity and local cultures, and never stop exploring Ecuador's wild landscapes.
