Svilen Svilenov
I am driven by a keen interest in contextualised design praxis shaped by programme and use to produce meaningful architectural responses in parallel with the fundamental technical frameworks of passive strategies and sustainable principles. I believe in the coexistence of pragmatics and theoretical substantiation and am curious in adjusting the fine balance between the two in their physical manifestations. My further interests lie in the exploration of derelict urban fabric tracing semiotic shifts in the architectural narrative towards adaptation and reuse.

Fragmentation of Spitalfields
Mapping site analysis superimposing parallaxed multimedia findings and the resulting fragmentation of Spitalfields by identifying the unseen places through the lens of social media interfaces. Ideas of potential sites begin to emerge as new territories of the area are identified.
Parallaxis | Unfolding the Site
Unfolding the site through historical maps to highlight its location, placed on the threshold of neutral and authentic urban fabric. An island of Banglatown appropriation situated in the commercial end of Spitalfields making a statement of an endangered identity.
Parallaxis | Centre of Urban Fragility
A deconstructed statement, a parallax in its neutral context, a catalyst for shifted spatial interpretation – the Centre of Urban Fragility is an exhibition/mediatheque in Spitalfields/London/ emerging as a response to the endangered state of urban environments and their authenticity.
Parallaxis | Centre of Urban Fragility
Exploded axonometric exploring relationships between structural and facade components with an emphasis on the multitude of wrapping corten steel layers signifying the metaphorical wrapping of fragile urban artefacts displayed on the inside, inspired by Christo and Jeanne-Claude's work.
Parallaxis | GF Plan | Fragments from the Existing Building Scattered across the Context
The GF layout features scattered fragments from the existing building to draw people in, inspired by Tschumi's deconstructivist folies in La Villette. The two main axes provide public pathways as a continuation of Artillery Lane and Spitalfields market plaza.
Parallaxis | Atrium of Physical and Digital Fragility
Incisions through an existing building re-introducing the atrium as per pre-refurbishment layout featuring a public GF channelled movement redefining the place's usability, celebrated with a deconstructivist approach inspired by Daniel Libeskind's and Bernard Tschumi's work.
