The capillaries staircase
This spiral staircase is the entrance to a building. It is inspired by the lymphatic capillaries showing the beginning of flow. Over time the brass banister captures the journey and narratives of the users through patina.
As an ambitious interior design graduate, my aim with my designs is to explore the creativity between visually compelling spaces whilst maintaining the most practical and user centred solutions. My work so far focuses on well-being, connecting spatial design and user experiences to positively impact their livelihoods. As well as capturing the history and materiality of an existing building, revealing its stories and weaving them into my designs. My enthusiasm for creating conceptual ideas and transforming them into detailed, functional designs allows me bring innovative ideas as well as adapting to new atmospheres. My interest in marketing strengthens my designs, helping me to express clear communication and design with intention. My creativity extends from drawing, painting, mixed media and 3D model making allowing me to visually express my ideas and share my visions with others. A pilates studio to celebrate activation and movement within the body. Keeping the lighting warm to promote restoration and the interior minimal and clean to maintain the body's focus on connection and wellbeing.
The form on the flooring mirrors movements on the skin of a lymphatic massage, creating sunken seating and spaces for users to interact with however they please. An area to stretch after activating and moving by slowing down.
Inspired to promote the lymphatic system, this pilates studio offers hot pilates. Using infrared panels to emit heat, making the movement of your lymphatic system improve leading to acceleration of circulation. Using materials and lighting that doesn't overwhelm.
A hallway to pilates studios. Curved walls, using stone for one to visually communicate the ice bath pilates, and using the warmth of wood to express hot pilates. Entering the hallway the infrared sensors allow the body to slowly activate.
This pod is made from different metals, mirroring a singing bowl. Connected to a transducer allowing audio to be converted to vibrations and felt through the body. Benefiting the flow and movement of our lymphatic systems. Allowing a therapeutic experience.
