Logline
A chaotic day in a run-down West Country tanning salon spirals into a surreal horror when a self-obsessed client becomes trapped in a hallucinatory white void, fuelled by a trashy gossip magazine and her obsession with a Polish boyband. Meanwhile, back in reality, the staff’s negligence leaves her literally burning, setting the stage for a blistered, vengeful return.

Synopis
California Sexy is a camp surrealist descent into obsession, told through maximalist visuals and trash aesthetics. It blends John Waters’ trash glamour, Eastern European kitsch, and the sexiness of Shirley Stoler’s performance in The Honeymoon Killers. This film embraces a dense, fast-paced, over-stuffed structure, intentionally mimicking 70s sexploitation films like Beyond the Valley of the Dolls: vivid colour, quick scenes, and emotional melodrama cranked to 100. My goal was to create a world that feels grotty, like cheap silicone-based shampoo.
