George Dugdale

With the focal point of my practice being painting, I work to inform it learning from collage, photography, digital manipulation, assemblage, found materials and drawing. I see my paintings as part of a dream-like, imaginary landscape, each turning a new unseen page of the book. Focused on combining confident gestural painting with studies of daily life around me, usually rendered in the form of products or objects, I work in a very reflective way, interested in how Covid-19 has decided how I have had to spend my 21st year on Earth.

Taking inspiration from the 'still' around me,

mainly in the shape of drinks cans, iconic branding or graphic design and powerful, out of context hits of colour, my obsession with such imagery might be puzzling to others. I am fascinated by vintage media and colour and I find typography and text interesting to work with and from.
