Isabella Chung

My practice mainly focuses on abstraction and mark making as I incorporate my style onto materials such as canvas and ceramics. I express my work through colour, texture, shape and text. The process of my paintings relies on inspirations of colour and objects from the surroundings of my area which are then translated onto my blank canvas.

My paintings incorporate jumbled up words in a particular space on a canvas, these texts that have been chosen are either significant to my life or an object from my room/area. The main element I incorporate are patterns and mark makings which I

use as a decoration or as a technique of composition to break up certain parts of the canvas, and give each segment of the painting their own hidden story or meaning.
