Isabel Lyster

I am a designer and maker, creating products, concepts and sets. My practice prioritises research, concept development and lo-fi material based prototyping using a hands-on approach.

Through my education in Puppetry at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama I developed an expertise in model making and live animation, which I applied working in industry and running my creative design studio- Paper Jungle. My MA in Design at University of West England provided the opportunity to develop my approach as a designer and maker. Using research to identify key issues, I develop playful, offbeat designs that repurpose household materials. This critical approach challenges the conventional product design process, whilst prioritising sustainability, placing my work in the field of Design Futures.

I have worked for clients such as The Crafts Council, Cod Steaks, Lebara Mobile, Gifford Circus, The Tobacco Factory and Flying Tiger Copenhagen.
