Dee Jackson

I’m an artist based in the UK, but interested in the wider European project, with connections to France and the Netherlands. My work has covered paint, experimental photography, installation, and sculpture.
My current project, an installation referencing the built environment, uses figurative paint on reclaimed wooden artefacts to explore the challenge of existing in the public realm. The structural elements of doors, panels, and window shutters convey simultaneously connectedness, through portals, but also of separation and isolation. The scenes, initially mundane, contain moments of solitude and self-containment and place the artist, and equally, the viewer, in the simultaneous roles of voyeuristic interloper and vicarious participant in quietly observed moments.
