Lydia May Duursma

As a designer, I am driven by a deep curiosity for materials and their potential to shape architectural design. Throughout my master’s degree, I have pursued a materials-first approach, an ethos that has guided my design decisions and helped me develop a wide range of skills, from model-making and technical detailing to experimental representation techniques.

My two years in practice have given me experience across small-scale residential projects, from planning through to technical stages, as well as larger housing schemes. This experience has made me adaptable, collaborative, and confident in navigating different phases of the design process.

Looking ahead, I am excited to contribute to teams where material innovation, conceptual clarity, and technical rigor are valued. I bring a grounded, thoughtful approach to architecture and am eager to continue learning through collaborative practice.
