Alicia Oku

Hi, I'm Alicia!

My passion for filmmaking began during my adolescence, where I grew to love human-led storytelling.

Growing up as a Black woman in a seaside city, I felt that the characters I saw on screen never truly represented me. This is why I'm now driven to creating stories that champion representation and authenticity. I'm an aspiring producer-director seeking entry-level work in the production department, both within the realms of scripted and unscripted HETV.

Throughout my educational journey, I have specialised in producing and casting and deeply enjoy connecting talents from diverse backgrounds with meaningful stories and roles. I am confident team leader with strong interpersonal, scheduling and big-picture-thinking skills. My proudest achievement is Bossman Shop, where I managed the casting of six key talents from the local community, engaging with local drama schools and students, community centres and identifying new faces through street casting.
