Wartism
MA stop-motion comedy exploring the perspective of a pre-pubescent autistic child, Nellie. She narrates a day in her life, asking important questions like "Why can't we all just be naked?!"
Hello! I'm Ellen, a stop-motion fabricator and scriptwriter based in Bristol. I came to the MA with a background in filmmaking, spending the past few years making props for set decoration, whilst developing my voice as a comedy writer alongside.
I'm interested in exploring the bizarre and uncomfortable; I love that animation lends itself to this because of the freedom that comes with a lack of physical limitations. Creating a fully animatable and expressive puppet this year, for my film 'Wartism', has been an opportunity to fully immerse myself in a story. I love to get stuck in and try out new materials, which is what I have focused on during my MA; learning a range of techniques that I will take forward with me, including silicone casting, sculpting, and armature building.
Thank you for having a look at my page, I would love to hear from you!
