Niklas Ellersiek

Unknown places, untouched nature and adventure have drawn Niklas Ellersiek since childhood. Whether in rainforests, caves, our oceans, the Sahara or the peaks of the Alps. He loves the challenge and the stories these places hold: stories meant to make us reflect.
As a documentary filmmaker with many years of experience in the agency landscape and in animal welfare, and a strong passion for adventure and research projects, his focus is on conflict and border areas where human, ecological and political interests collide.
What drives him is not the spectacle but the question beneath it. How people and the natural world struggle with one another at the edges of our planet. He is less interested in answers than in images and stories that continue to unsettle and reflect long after the film ends.
