Poppy Jessop

I am a London based artist with a very textural and material based style of image making.

Completing both an Art Foundation at Kingston School of Art and BA Photography at UWE has led me to develop a very hands-on approach to photography. I enjoy making the props I use within my photos and physically working into an image using collage. These techniques allow me to let my imagination run completely wild, creating bizarre and surreal images that leave people questioning how the photograph has been created.

Hair and nails are a common motif throughout my work. My obsession with using hair recently led to me getting shortlisted alongside 10 other artists for Bleach London’s Super Cool Colour Fund. As part of the shortlist I was asked to create a piece inspired by one of their hair dye colours. This was exhibited in their 10 year anniversary artist showcase.
