Marija Matuzeviciute

I'm a Fashion Textiles student at UWE with a passion for both design and digital storytelling. My work blends strong conceptual research with hands-on making, whether that's through textile design, creative direction, or producing engaging content. I bring a thoughtful approach to design, with skills in industrial sewing techniques, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and a keen eye for detail.

I have a keen interest and passion for exploring themes surrounding my personal heritage; My final project explores the secretive and often harsh realities of life in the Soviet Union, experiences my own mother lived through growing up in Soviet-occupied Lithuania. Ultimately, my project aims to preserve and reinterpret this often-overlooked chapter of history, celebrating the courage and ingenuity of those who continued to create and express themselves in the face of systemic repression. I also explore themes of Folk, traditions and brutalism.
