Suddenly uprooted from the warmth of Australia to the cold isolation of the United Kingdom at the tender age of 11, my formative years were overshadowed by a pervasive sense of confusion and loss as I watched my mother disappear from my life to create the life she thought she was owed. This distance from home and maternal love slowly eroded my sense of self and I began a lifelong search to fill in the empty spaces the loss of love left behind.

In my search for human connection, I found comfort in the women around me who brought hope, joy, and positivity back into my life and helped to fill in the dark spaces. Yet the emptiness persisted. Eventually, the force tugging at the very fabric of my being for as long as I can remember finally pulled me back to the land of my birth. Thirty-eight years after leaving Australia, I stood once more on its sacred soil. The reunion was profound, an emotional homecoming that stirred the depths of my soul. I grasped at the intangible threads that bound me to this ancient land, feeling the deep visceral connection between self and soil and the feeling I had finally found home.

This project is my love letter of self-discovery, resilience, and reclamation of identity.
