THE MA Journalism programme is thrilled that one of its students has won a prestigious award and will now see her work broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
Amy Bartlett, who had already fended off stiff competition to even be shortlisted for the Charles Parker Award, studies on the MA’s Broadcast Journalism Training Council’s (BJTC) accredited Audio, Docs and Podcast pathway.
Amy’s audio documentary, Full Circle, was one of the five winners the award selected this year, so will be aired on BBC Radio 4’s new Storytellers strand.
Full Circle tells the story of singer-songwriter and mother of two, Dawn and the search for her long-lost daughter, adopted during the Troubles in Belfast.
The awards – which have been named in honour of Charles Parker, who is hailed as one of radio’s brilliant pioneers in documentary making – is renowned for celebrating young people who have demonstrated excellence in radio and audio doc production.
According to the Charles Parker Archive Trust website, many winners have gone on to pursue successful careers in audio and radio production.
