Edie Bisseker Featured in Drapers Class of 2021
Level 3 Fashion Textiles Student Edie Bisseker was one of Six final year students selected to represent the UKs Class of 2021, in the May issue of Drapers. Drapers is the leading Business to Business online and print publication for the Fashion and Textiles sector – and Edie’s work will be disseminated globally through their platforms.
‘My collection started as a lockdown boredom-project. I wanted to practice painting at speed so I had the idea to visit online chat sites such as Omegle and Chatroulette. I would chat to the people I met there whilst I sketched and painted them. These portraits were the starting point for my collection, which I then translated into knit samples.’
‘When we started our final year online, it made me think about the bizarre format of Zoom meetings – how we’re inviting acquaintances and colleagues into our personal spaces. All of my tutors have now seen my childhood bedroom! I knew from the start that I wanted to use my final collection as a way to respond to the current situation but I really wanted to keep the tone light and celebrate the unique humanity of the situation’
Edie will be showcasing at Graduate Fashion Week at Samsung KX Coal Drops Yard, from 12th – 16th June.
