Gwen Gwynn

Gwen Gwynn is a Welsh painter currently based in Bristol, UK. Within her practice she uses a variety of mediums including printmaking, photography, zine making and drawing, which interact with each other and further inform her painting, which she is always drawn back to. Through delving into personal experiences and family histories, Gwen hopes to discover the treasures and secrets of the places that we inhabit, and the memories that inhabit us. Magic, playfulness and colour are at the core of what she makes, tangled up in- and sometimes in contrast with- the darkness and sadness of human experience.

Using the tactile and multifaceted nature of paint and mark making she is able to engage fully with these contrasts of dark and light, real and false, heavy and joyful, which we encounter every day on our journeys to belong and connect.
