Tara Culling

My name is Tara Culling. I am intrigued by places and by people. In my work, I have explored my fascination for these two dimensions of our amazing world.

In my media project, “The perfect girl? Cut and paste culture”, I considered how the way we think we see people may, in fact, be only partly true. In a world with so much peer, media, and cultural pressure to exhibit perfection, sometimes an alternative to reality can be (and is) presented. I challenge the viewer to question what they see and to explore their own reactions to what they think is perfect.

Not always seeing the full and true picture is also a theme in my image cultures work. I present the enchantment and mystery of some fascinating places, whilst also considering how we only see our moment in time.
